After being gone for two long weeks I am finally back home and settling back in! Although office hours don't resume until Friday I am doing my best to catch up on candle and ritual reports as well as taking orders. The trip to Lucky Mojo was as always amazing. I really consider the entire gang up there extended family, so it is worthwhile to see them any time but the apprenticeship week makes it even more wonderful. This week we learned about herbs, candles, washes and waters. Along with cat's phenomenal lectures there is the hands-on practicum part of the apprenticeship program and there is also show and tell where we get to see cat's fantastic collection of Hoodoo and Magical ephemera from ages past. The above picture shows a variety of herb boxes and packets that were sold in both magical catalogues as well as almanacs.
Then it was back to work! The apprenticeship program is not paid for by students--we earn our keep by working for the shop while we are there. Our work-study for the herbs portion of the week included making a large batch of 13 Herb Bath, which we mixed in a big bath tub!
And we also got to see some fantastic root curios in their natural state like this nest of Devil's Shoestring! It was a fabulous week of learning and I so thank everyone who made it possible. Now I am back home, Texas is starting to feel autumnal, the baby is kicking happily, and I am celebrating my 30th birthday today--life is pretty swell. May you all be equally blessed!
Happy belated B'day to you!!!
