- Early to bed, and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise
- Diligence is the mother of good luck
- God helps them that help themselves
- Sloth, like rust, consumes faster than labor wears, while the used key is always bright
- Dost thou love life, then do not squander time, for that’s the stuff life is made of
--Benjamin Franklin, The Way to Wealth
If you haven't yet built a prosperity altar or if you are looking at yours and wondering what more it needs, you might want to consider adding a picture of Benjamin Franklin to it. One of the USA's founding fathers, Franklin was known for his ingenuity and inventiveness as well as his political acumen, but he was also a business man and wrote a good deal on money, prosperity, success and how to have more of it. It is not mere coincidence that lands his face on our $100 bill.
When we talk about Prosperity in Hoodoo we are actually looking at several different aspects of wealth. I use the word Prosperity to describe the condition that can also be known as Money Drawing, Better Business, and Money Stay. I like the word "prosperity" because to my mind it covers all the areas that we want to be wealthy in--not just financially but in our lives. The Hindu deity Lakshmi is a great example of what complete Prosperity means. She has no less that 8 aspects that each represent a kind of wealth. For instance, one of Lakshmi's manifestations is wealth in food--for the family that honors her will never go hungry. They may not have a ton of money in the bank account but there will always be good food on the table. The wealth of good health, of friends and family, and of children as represented as well.
Most folks think about wealth and prosperity only in terms of cold hard cash and certainly more cash is a part of any comprehensive money drawing work. However, the clients I have seen who have the most success when it comes to bringing and keeping abundant good things in their lives are the ones who take a comprehensive view on wealth.
The most frequent complaint about money that I hear from clients is that they don't have enough coming in, that is closely followed by the second complaint--that what is coming in doesn't seem to stay. The first step in any true wealth-building program is to maximize what you already have. This includes money in the bank, but it also includes things that many folks tend to look over--opportunities to make some money on the side through an innate talent, skill or gift for instance. A wonderful way to start thinking about this is to follow the example of Sri Lakshmi--think about all of the ways that you can bring more wealth and prosperity into your life. Make a list. Try to think of at least 8--if you go over that number even better!
Another wonderful way to encourage more wealth into your life is to build a Prosperity altar. Place it in the East so that as the sun rises your fortunes will also rise and strengthen throughout the day and throughout your life. Include money and wealth drawing items like lodestones, magnetic sand, money drawing oil and money stay with me oil. Vigil Candles, Seven Day candles, mojo hands, and spell kits can all be worked with to increase your prosperity. Herbs and roots like: Allspice berries, Blue Flag Root, Irish Moss, Sassafras, Cinnamon, Bergamot, Five-finger Grass, and Alfalfa are all wealth drawing and may be used to dress candles, in mojo hands, and as a mix in your home or business. For a full list of all herbs, roots, and minerals that can be worked with to increase your prosperity check out Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic by cat yronwode.
Studies have shown that our attitudes about wealth and abundance can make a big difference. Folks who have a positive attitude tend to draw positive people and experiences into their lives. Even if they aren't flush with cash at all times, they have an attitude that allows them to enjoy and appreciate what they do have. Those who approach prosperity from a place of not having--never having enough, never getting it right, always missing the opportunity will draw that kind of energy. I am acquainted with several people who have great looking bank accounts, but they are not wealthy--their lives are not full of abundant good things because they do not feel like they have prosperity and instead are always focused on what they do not yet have. Don't be like that, have a positive, can-do attitude and you will attract true prosperity in all of its many forms.
Well all of this is well and good but what if your money is jinxed? One common form of crossed conditions may effect your wallet specifically. Anytime you suspect you might be crossed you want to go to an
ethical reader to have your suspicion evaluated. A
reading can help you sort out truth from fiction faster that anything else, helping you get the assistance that you need and not waste time or money seeking it out. There are cases where finances may be jinxed and if you are suffering from such a crossing a skilled root worker should be able to prepare ritual work or a
mojo hand to help you recover from the experience.
